Why one should spend more time in Comedy Clubs: Ari Shaffir Edition

Too cool of a person

I LOVE COMEDY. Anybody that knows me, knows that my favorite pastime and ultimate goal in life is to make people laugh, in whatever capacity or forum that I can be accepted in. I’ve only had the pleasure to see three comedians live in my life, but all three have been people who I feverishly enjoy. Most recently I spent my Friday night at The PUNCHLINE in Sacramento where Ari Shaffir headlined. Those unfamiliar with Ari can simply check out any of his own podcasts on the “Skeptic Tank”(His Latest Podcast), or any of the Joe Rogan Experience podcasts (Joe Rogan, Ari Shaffir, Brian Redban) where Ari shares the mic with the great Mr. Rogan.

I can’t lie, I hadn’t heard of Ari until I became a devotee of Rogan’s podcast.  I spent almost two full years listening to Rogan before hearing Ari enough times to be compelled to make the journey to seeing him live. Ari’s own podcast, is genuinely entertaining and well put together, which is a bit of a reprieve from the average comedians podcast (seeing that most are overtly lazy and have no attention to detail). But rest assured, there is nothing AVERAGE about Mr. Shaffir. He’s an advocate of free choice(regarding both drug use and abortion, as made clear in both his podcast and live show lol), who has an endless amount of charm which he uses to get you to fully understand his point of view without being off-putting. This is truly a rare talent and gift.

I went to the 10:00 pm show on Friday in hopes that he would be fully unleashed and relentless in his approach. And he did not disappoint in any way shape or form. If anything, he left me in awe at just how good he is, and just how much he fully deserves to be headlining everywhere he goes. He held his own throughout the set, even with a few belligerent douchebags sitting up front, and after following what was a rather amazing and refreshing set from Kris Tinkle.

Kris is somebody who you should undoubtedly see given the opportunity, as he is something of a rarity in the comedy scene. A very old school, east coast vibe too him, as he seems to not give a fuck whilst still making you feel like an exuberantly important part of his show. Between both those comedians I have to say I am forever indebted to them and their art form, of which was razor-sharp and rather compelling. In summation, I laughed all night, spent a rather reasonable amount of money given just how entertained I was. And essentially laughed from the moment I sat down, til second I got home (btw buy one of his shirts, THEY ARE FUCKING AMAZING) My friends that I brought with, have now been converted to people who love comedy shows, and are forever Shaffir and Tinkle fans. Can’t wait for the opportunity to see them again, and if you get to this article in time, do know that you still have a chance to see them here in Sacramento for two more nights!! Ari Shaffir at the Punchline SAT june 16th/17th tickets still available here

Well worth the price of admission just for his set!!

    • Thank you sir! I appreciate all like minded douchebags out there. Spread the word, and keep coming back for more redundantly bland points of view from yours truly.
